Iraq National Assembly convenes

Interim President Ghazi al-Yawer attends the opening of Iraq's National Assembly.

Calling for democracy and freedom, the leaders of Iraq's interim government today challenged the country's new National Assembly to strive for unity. President Bush congratulated the people of Iraq. "It was a hopeful moment," Bush told reporters at the White House.
